A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Welcome to B.A.S.E
On behalf of the Black Alliance of Scientists & Engineers, it is my great honor to be this year's Chapter President. I would like to welcome you to our family. From 2019 to 2022, BASE was in an ongoing crisis due to the pandemic which impacted us all. Finally, last year BASE returned to its activities in-person allowing members to meet other people like me.
Now this year, our goal is to bring our foundation back to standing again. How do we accomplish this? Its membership establishing membership is a huge change for BASE which allows the organization to run better than it was. Our other accomplishments are academic excellence, Tabling, socials, collaborations, professional development workshops, and an active presence on social media are integral in keeping you within the loop of all things BASE and NSBE.
In this day and age, where we are now the sprouts that grew from this recent and brash storm that befell us, it is now the time we use this upward momentum to fuel our growth. We are like an army of ants, strong individually, but limited in ability and insight. To flourish, even just individually, we must now come together and collaborate to see opportunities and pass them along for fair distribution so that we can let doors open rather than stay locked out, since a lot of things in this life cause so. The College of Engineering only makes up 2% of people of African descent, yes we are located in the Tech Capital of the world, however, we need to help guide each other in necessary focuses to ensure ALL of our perseverance and greatness is witnessed for a bigger stage. Hopefully, you will allow me to lead the charge on the harvesting of this Professional Cornucopia, if I am not worthy then I hope everyone forms bridges and connections amongst each other as peers in similar positions.
I look forward to spending this 2023 & 2024 year with all of you and I wish you the best in your studies. Keep it SIXY my friends.
Respectfully,
Alexander Wiley
Chapter President
